Second Day!

posted 10 Nov 2012, 04:16 by Unknown user
What an amazing day! It was packed with rehearsals, workshop and fun. We have made tons of new friends and met people from all around South East Asia and for a first day it has been a great experience.

We started off this morning with an early breakfast and off to The British International School Ho Chi Minh City at 8:00am. We then had full ensemble rehearsals where we split up into choir and orchestra. Then we split up again into our separate sectionals and learnt the songs for our performance.

Before lunch we had our first of three workshops. These were:
Campbell - Blues Improvisation
Cris- Drama/Music Games
Eunji- Folk Music
Jake- Latin Rhythms
Josh- Ukelele
Justin- Drama/Music Games
Katherine- Drama/Music Games
Lauren- Drama/Music Games
Liam- Drama/Music Games
Marina- New Orleans Band
Meg- Drama/Music Games
Sandy- Drama/Music Games

We all really enjoyed our workshops and are looking forward to doing more later on.

After our workshops, we went into our minor ensembles before having a big group photo with our FOBISSEA shirts and our conical hats. Then we all came together and practiced some of the performance pieces with both the choir and the orchestra. Next we had dinner which was a barbecue on the school pitch, we all stuffed ourselves with burgers and had some well earned relaxing time before watching the Visitng Schools Concert.

In the Schools Concert, all fifteen schools in the festival put on a performance for everyone. We had Eun Ji perform a song on a instrument called Hulusi. She did really well and everyone enjoyed her performance. We had a variety of different performances from 'Nobody But You' by The Wonder Girls to 'The Mission Impossible' theme song. Overall it was great to watch all the schools' performances and it was a great day. We all can't wait for tomorrow!
